Stink and the Incredible Super-Galactic Jawbreaker
By Megan McDonald                    Illustrated by Peter H. Reynolds

Stink and the Incredible Super-Galactic Jawbreaker by Megan McDonald is a fun story about Stink Moody who decides to write a complaint letter to a jawbreaker company after his Super-Galactic jawbreaker fails to break his jaw. He is shocked when he receives a ten pound box of jawbreakers to compensate him for his disappointment.

Stink decides to write more letters and soon receives boxes of free stuff from other companies. During all this letter writing he accidentally misses his best friend Webster’s birthday party. Stink decides to make it up to Webster by using all his free stuff to throw a giant surprise party for Webster.

One thing that is really fun about this book is that the author uses a ton of idioms through out the text and explains what idioms are. At the end of the book there is a complete list of all the idioms used. It is like getting a mini English lesson while reading a fun story.

Stink also writes comics based on idioms and they are presented at the end of each chapter. The comics are funny and illustrate the literal meaning of the idioms. This is a great way to entertain and educate.

My nephews really like Stink and I can’t wait to read more Stink books to them.
